What’s helpful to include
Below is a list of the most helpful documents to upload, grouped by category. You don’t need to have everything, and if you’re unsure where to start, anything related to income or equity is a great first step:
Income and employment
- Recent pay stubs
Provides visibility into your Income and benefits, so we can evaluate your cash flow, savings potential , and tax-advantaged opportunities.
- Offer letters
Useful for understanding base compensation and any equity or bonus components.
- Bonus or commission documentation
If part of your income isn’t fixed, this helps us build a more accurate picture of your total earnings.
Taxes
- Recent tax returns
Your return gives us a high-level view of your income, deductions, and tax position, and can often help with planning opportunities.
- Tax forms (e.g., W-2, 1040s, 1099s)
These fill in the details and ensure we’re factoring in all sources of income.
Investments
- Brokerage account statements
These help us understand how your assets are currently invested and how diversified your portfolio is.
- IRA or 401(k) statements
Retirement accounts are a key part of your long-term plan — these help us assess your progress and identify next steps.
- Crypto or alternative investment summaries
If you hold digital assets or other non-traditional investments, this helps us factor them into your overall strategy.
Equity
- Stock option grant agreements
These provide critical details like strike price and vesting schedule, which shape how and when you might exercise options.
Debt and liabilities
- Mortgage and/or home loan statements
Help us understand your major financial commitments and how they fit into your broader financial plan.
- Student loan details
Helps us understand your repayment timeline and monthly commitments — and spot any ways to optimize or simplify your plan.
Cash and liquidity
- Checking and/or savings account balances
These help us understand what’s readily available and so we can plan for near-term needs or opportunities.
Other
- Any document that adds context to your financial story
If there’s something else you think we should see, feel free to include it, even if it doesn’t fit into any of the above categories.
